on getting older

Tessa is a vlogger whom I’ve followed for about two years now, and she makes some great points in this video. From the start, society glorifies people who achieve things at a young age, and in a way that makes me, at least, feel that getting older devalues you and your accomplishments. As Tessa points out, maturing is an important and essential part of life.

I totally watched this video yesterday šŸ™‚ I left a lengthy comment about how this video really hit home with me since I just turned 20.

Yeah, it’s definitely a thought process I’ve had since, well, forever. I’ve always felt that I had to achieve something early to be worthwhile and that is especially emphasized in my career, where the young are glorified and the “old” are forgotten, sometimes before they’ve even been seen. I need to remember what Tessa says in this video, because it is true: people wouldn’t be able to do half of what they achieve if it weren’t for the maturity and experience they gather along the way, and only time can do that.
